Before you can start the network installation procedure, you need to know a few things. The first thing you need to do is mark wall plates. Make sure these wall plates are accessible, and that they are located away from electrical outlets. You also need to avoid any devices that may be powered by electricity. You can use a network tester to test the cable connections. Once the tests are complete, you can proceed with building assembly. Make sure to install wall plates, and patch drywall if necessary.
The bricklayer method of network installation relies on sound engineering principles and physical network management software. This method is effective for testing, but it may not fully leverage the network’s potential. For example, high-performance sports cars can suffer from a lack of carburetion if the car isn’t adjusted for elevation. By properly adjusting the carburetor, you’ll be able to increase top speed. The same principle applies to LANs.
A network installation also uses a name server to manage the distributed network database. A name server keeps a list of systems on the network. To create a name server, follow the steps outlined in the System Administration Guide. You can use the same system to install all systems in the network, or you can separate them. Typical network installation servers are illustrated in Figure 4-1. This sample network does not contain a DHCP server.
After setting up network security, the next step is installing the software. This is essentially the same as installing the software on a local machine. You must install the SuperProServer application on the server computer. This software is silently installed at the beginning of the T-SIM installation procedure. Once the software is installed, you can use it to connect to your network. This will allow the application to discover whether a hardware key is available on your network.
When installing the software on a Windows network, your computer should identify the type of network card it has. It is important to download drivers for all network cards. Windows setup programs only support certain network card models, so if your system is brand new, it may not support your network card. You should also run Serva as administrator to grant it the necessary permissions to create files and save settings. Once the software is installed, follow the instructions.
Next, you must specify the location of your network’s database. For this, you need to install the latest version of the software. If you change your mind, you can always move the database location. However, you must make sure to specify the new location of the database on every PC. You may want to use the advanced sharing feature for networking to avoid causing a problem with your network. You can also try this technique to install network security software on a virtual server.
Home networking is another method of network installation. Using a local area network requires a wireless router and wireless cards for every computer in the home. This way, everyone can use the same Internet connection and share files. However, if you have a large number of computers, you may want to consider purchasing more network hardware. A home network is the most cost-effective way to enable multiple people to work with computer technology in the same home.
